In the same spirit of sincere benevolence, Yad Ezrah's volunteers offer real support by hosting mentally disabled patients in their homes for holidays and Shabbat. In addition to basking in the warm Shabbat atmosphere and delighting in the festive meals, the patients edge their way back into society rather than remain detached, aloof and lonely. In a sense, they feel they have a family; they are cared for and taken care of. In most cases the relationship transcends beyond the technical realm of holiday hospitality and this greatly enhances the recovery process.
